After much anticipation, the super-special Halloween (2 PART!) episode 7 of the Gifted Girls has been released!!!

If you haven't watched it yet- this one is a good one to start with (and then, of course, you can go back and watch all the others!!!)

For you Obies- it stars a very prominent Oberlin professor, I don't think you want to miss it.

Seriously, this one's good.

Finally- just an update to let you know that while on my way home from canvasing for Obama in PA (VOTE EVERYONE!!!!) my cell phone got lost in the depths of the megabus travel.

If you need to get in contact with me e-mail is the best way. Otherwise you can always try Lizzie.

I'll keep you updates on the phone status fo sho.

12:07 pm - The real update
I feel like I haven't actually updated in a while. Which is too bad because I feel like there have been a million wonderful things going on.

First off, Lizzie Tracee and I adopted a wonderfully adorable puppy who Kirsten then named Hugo. He's a puggle (half pug, half beagle), is now about 5 months old and is the light (and annoyance) of our lives right now. The cats, of course, are simeltaneously intrigued and thuroughly irritated by him. He's got a lot to learn in the ways of manners, but he's gotten so much better since we've had him and I'm truly in love.

I also got a new job. Hooray!!!!! And it's kind of perfect. I'm working at the Creative Arts Team (the organization my Applied Theatre Program runs out of- they are a very well-established arts activism program who do a lot of work in the public school, prisons and various places around the country). It's part time, so I can spend the rest of my time working on school stuff. I'm actually working with a program I care about, it's just as diverse a group as Reebok and it's a great opportunity to see the inner-workings of a functional non-profit. Plus, as much as I loved Reebok, it feels SO good to be out of there. I feel like I learned some really valuable things and I'm really grateful to all the folks there for making my time there as good as it was. That being said, I was really ready to be out and working on something had an investment in.

Classes have been brilliant. I go from being totally overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I need to do and the number of things I'm learning, to wanting to take on 3 billion more projects because it's all so exciting. We had our first real-life application of the stuff this weekend as me and 2 other people in my class we led 30 teenagers in a hour and a half project about Rachel Corrie. The teens (who were an AMAZING group) were incredibly receptive and seemed to really be interested in what we were doing and invested in the topic. It was terrifying and I have something like 3 million changes I would love to make to the actual presentation, but it was incredible to put it all into practice.

We're also working on touring From the Inside, Out to a number of high schools and colleges in the country. We've got a HUGE episode of The Gifted Girls coming out on the 31st and we're working hard core on the non-profit status for 4th Meal.

It's so much stuff. Sometimes overwhelming, but I don't think I want it to end.

8:49 pm - The other Keenan-Bolger
So I was surfing the web today when I came across a little article about Car Talk TV (Now called Click and Clack As the Wrench Turns). Ya know, that little cartoon that I was initially cast in only to be re-cast later on by someone with a "bigger name."

You will never guess who that person is. None other than Ms. Kelli O'Hara. The SAME Kelli O'Hara who replaced my sister in The Light in the Piazza back in the day. WTF Kelli? I mean, she's RIDICULOUSLY talented, absolutely gorgeous and ya know, if I"m going to be replaced by anyone it might as well be her, but the irony is rather thick.

Could she be the next Keenan-Bolger?

My newest brain child lies in the hands of the brand spanking new CUNY Applied Theater Program. The program is the first masters program in the US to address the application of social change to theater.

The classes sound brilliant. The program sounds fun. I haven't been more excited about something in quite some time.

This is all well and good until I think about money, and more loans, and trying to live in NY without a full-time salary much less a salary at all.

But I'm trying not to let that stop me. After all, I'm still dug in pretty deep, why not go a little further?

This is something I'm passionate about. And it would get me out of Reebok.

Now I just have to get accepted.

I'm exhausted. Bound Shadow is kicking my butt. In the best of ways of course. I'm kind of in shock that I actually have to go to work tomorrow. It's seems a cruel situation to have to sit at my desk and focus on things that feel totally benign. It's funny that feeling creatively stimulated can make my job seem even worse.

I'm think I'm just also sort of in need of a break. I haven't had an actual vacation since Christmas and I've been working long weeks for the most part. I'm looking so forward to this summer and my show and getting stuff together there it's uncanny.

But Bound Shadow is going to be good I think. I wasn't positive for a while, but things are really coming together. I'm so happy with the work we've done and so excited to see it all come to life with the lights and the sound and the video and costumes. We've given it life- now it just needs an enviornment.

I like working with people I enjoy on projects that are new and different. I like getting new episodes of The Gifted Girls and brainstorming new ways to make it funny. I like moving forward with becoming a non-profit and figuring out difficult things and talking about where we want 4th Meal to go.

It makes me feel like my life is moving forward in a way that is useful to me and getting somewhere better then where I was before.

This is important.

1:36 pm - Yet another shameless self-promotion
Hello friends and family!
So- I am in a show going up over Easter Weekend that I would love for you all to see. It's an interdisciplinary collaborative piece called Bound Shadow- going up March 21-23 for 4 performances in NYC.

The piece interweaves four stories- an archetypal boy (that's me!) who dreams of the 21st century and who must come face to face with the power of his shadow ; Etienne-Gaspard Robert, 18th century Belgian illusionist and developer of Phantasmagoria; Johann Kaspar Lavater, 18th century Swiss pastor and leader of physiognomy; and Mary Stilwell Edison, Thomas Edison's 16-year-old first wife. This is a story in which the dreaming and waking worlds collide, digging into the core of what it means to be human.

The piece is told through the synthesis of theater, dance, music, video and photography. It is a piece conceived by Matthew Ozawa, written by the company around eight months ago, and it promises to be an exhilarating and passionate piece of theater.

Bound Shadow will be performed at the Michael Weller Theater, 311 West 43rd Street (6th Floor). Show times are Friday March 21st, 8pm; Saturday March 22nd, 2pm and 8pm; and Sunday March 23rd, 7pm.

Tickets are $18. To reserve tickets in advance, e-mail boundshadow2008@gmail.com with the number of tickets and the date and time of the performance you would like to attend. There are only 200 tickets total so make your reservations quick! I have a feeling this show is going to sell!

You can see the postcard below. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions, I would love love love to see you all there!!
